Roman chamomile EO has been used throughout history for multiple purposes. Ancient Romans used the oil for mental clarity and courage during war. And it's said to be nicknamed the "plant's physician", because it supposedly benefited any nearby plants as well. It's aroma has a fruity-herby scent, somewhat sweet, and very calming.

For the medicine cabinet x. Chamomile has been used for centuries in teas as a mild, relaxing sleep aid, treatment for fevers, colds, stomach ailments, and as an anti-inflammatory, to name only a few therapeutic uses. Chamomile may be used internally or externally. Extensive scientific research over the past 20 years has confirmed many of the traditional uses for the plant and established pharmacological mechanisms for the plant's therapeutic activity, including antispasmodic, antipyretic, antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-allergenic activity.

Chamomile relieve’s the pains of headache, migraine, ‘flu, could help relieve the symptoms of asthma, catarrh, bronchitis and pneumonia. Chamomile is still extremely useful in the treatment of many women’s problems such as amenorrhoea, dysmenorrhoea, PMT and cystitis. Chamomile baths, rubs and tisanes can help avoid the build-up of fluids before a period and any dropsical complaints.

For the mind/nervous system x. Chamomile calms emotions, nervous system, and skin. Chamomile of most varieties have been used for centuries to calm and prepare you for a restful sleep, making it a popular oil to use before bed. It's well-known as a tea, but can also be used on your pillow or PJs too. Emotionally, it brings about a sense of calm and peacefulness, which can often be closely related to a person's ability to lean into trust, promote serenity in all areas of life, or even release any need to create drama.

For meditation x. It is wonderful burned in a diffuser during meditation as it allows the mind to norm out and deep relaxation to set in. It brings about a feeling of peace and well-being, as the stress and tensions float away.

For beauty x. Chamomile is useful in treating skin complaints such as dermatitis, acne and eczema. Thanks to the properties of azulene, abscesses and boils can also be cured very quickly. A steeped chamomile tea bag will help reduce facial puffiness suffered by some women pre-menstrually or during attacks of allergies such as hayfever. Chamomile oil can be mixed with others to make facial oils for many types of skin, and chamomile infusions make a good tonic cleanser for dry skin. Chamomile is most famed for its use in hair preparations. It is used commercially in shampoos for fair hair, and it can lighten hair colour.
